All you need is love….
I arrived at Kat’s granny’s home to boisterous laughter coming from upstairs! A room of beautiful women with an effortless, fun vibe surrounding them - no makeup artists or hairstylists in sight, just a swipe of lipgloss, hair in a half knot! This was quite a refreshing counter to the ‘perfection’ the wedding industry often promotes. Kat wore a statement lace dress from For Love & Lemons and trendy shoes from Charles & Keith I loved how uninhibited and free they were in front of the camera, it was so much fun capturing them all.
The beautiful Essex coast was a perfect backdrop for Tom & Kat’s wedding ceremony, and they had decorated the front garden with colourful bunting and hale bales, keeping the very informal fun style. Musical friends sang All you need is love and the whole crowd joined in, it was so funny and moving. They served cocktails and fresh oysters, followed by canapes made by a family friend.
The couple really set the energy and tone for their wedding and didn’t want too much posing time taken out of the party, which I completely understand. We swiftly took some couple portraits while guests were strolling to the next part of the day - a beautiful marquee in Kat’s mother’s garden, where they ate, laughed and partied into the night! I absolutely loved the warmth and carefree nature of these beautiful souls. I feel like I leave every job learning something from each couple or family I work with, and as quite a reserved person myself, I left thinking about how liberating it is to stop worrying about how we look or being so self conscious and just instead enjoy ourselves more!
